A menopausa

Menopause

Today we talk about Menopause

Menopause is a natural phenomenon of women's aging, which occurs from 45-50 years of age. It is characterized by the definitive interruption of menstruation, as the ovaries stop producing estrogen and progesterone, stopping releasing eggs every month.

Menopause is defined as the last menstrual period and is usually confirmed when a woman has not had a period for 12 consecutive months (without other obvious causes).

This phase is covered by a transition period called the climacteric, which corresponds to the set of pre-, peri- and post-menopausal periods, that is, the woman's transition phase, between full reproductive capacity and incapacity.

There are several symptoms that can point to the possible arrival of menopause and are associated with hormonal functioning, which is deregulated and can cause physical and emotional disorders. The most common are: hot flashes, menstrual irregularity (in frequency, duration and flow), weight gain, joint pain, night sweats, vaginal dryness, hot flashes, mood swings, irritability, anxiety, depression, libido changes, fatigue, concentration and memory difficulties, urinary problems, among others.

The menopause process is associated with an aging body, so it is recommended that women see their doctor to perform tests and assess the need to readjust their lifestyle. Studies indicate that, ten years after menopause, it is more likely that there is a real increase in the risk of heart disease, as a consequence of the drop in estrogen levels, along with other body changes.

Menopause can be treated with medications and alternative solutions that aim to control symptoms, as well as a healthy diet and exercise. These adaptations and care are very important for women to be able to go through these hormonal changes in the best possible way and live with all the quality of life they deserve. Seeking psychological follow-up can be fundamental.

Menstrual cycles end and a new woman is born!

This can be a beautiful journey, if we see it as a phase of maturity and new possibilities!
